neither shall you come [with these] to appear before Me; for who has required these things at your hands? You shall no more tread My court.

But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

[As] I live, says the Lord, I will not answer you, neither shall this thing come upon your spirit.

Son of man, these men have conceived their devices in their hearts, and have set before their faces the punishment of their iniquities: shall I indeed answer them?

Therefore speak to them, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord: Any man of the house of Israel, who shall conceive his devices in his heart, and shall set the punishment of his iniquity before his face, and shall come to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him [according to the things] in which his mind is entangled,

For any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, who shall separate himself from Me, and conceive his imaginations in his heart, and set before his face the punishment of his iniquity, and come to the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me; I the Lord will answer him, [according to the things] in which he is entangled.

And I will set My face against that man, and will make him desolate and ruined, and will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

So Saul inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not by dreams, nor by manifestations, nor by prophets.

And call upon Me in the day of affliction; and I shall deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Pause.

Seeing you have hated instruction, and have cast My words behind [you].

Your mouth has multiplied wickedness, and your tongue has framed deceit.

These things you did, and I kept silent; you thought wickedly that I should be like you, [but] I will reprove you, and set [your offenses] before you.

The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord, but the prayers of them that walk honestly are acceptable to Him.

He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even he has made his prayer abominable.

When you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away My eyes from you; and though you make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.

And the seers of night visions shall be ashamed, and the prophets shall be laughed to scorn: and all the people shall speak against them, because there shall be none to listen to them.

'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and they honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me.

And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

God [is] Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
