And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the fifth month, on the fifth [day] of the month, I was sitting in the house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me. And the hand of the Lord came upon me.

And it came to pass in the seventh year, on the fifteenth day of the month, there came men of the elders of the house of Israel to inquire of the Lord, and they sat before me.

And Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him; and [the king] sent a man before him. [But b]efore the messenger came to him, [Elisha] said to the elders, Do you see that this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? See, as soon as the messenger has come, shut the door, and forcibly detain him at the door: [is] not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

Now it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together at Jerusalem,

Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:

They approach you as a people that come together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them; for [there is] falsehood in their mouth, and their heart [goes] after their pollutions.

And the Lord has said, This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and they honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me; and in vain do they worship Me, teaching the commandments and doctrines of men.

And the [woman] had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and was listening to His word.

"I am indeed a Jew, having been born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but having been brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, having been educated according to the exactness of the law of our forefathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today.
