Flee from the midst of Babylon, and deliver everyone his soul; and be not overthrown in her iniquity; for it is the time of her retribution from the Lord. He is rendering to her a recompense.

And it came to pass when they brought them out, that they said, Save your own life by all means; look not round to that which is behind, nor stay in all the country round about, escape to the mountain, lest perhaps you be overtaken together with them.

For the end, A Psalm of David. In the Lord I have put my trust: how will you say to my soul, Flee to the mountains as a sparrow?

Give not sleep to your eyes, nor slumber with your eyelids;

that you may deliver yourself as a doe out of the toils, and as a bird out of a snare.

then let those who are in Judea flee upon the mountains.

And let the [one] in the field not turn back to take his clothes.

Then he said to the crowds which came out to be baptized by him, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

In that day, [he] who shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise he who is in the field, let him not turn back for the things [left] behind.

Whoever seeks to save his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life shall preserve it.

in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled to take hold of the hope being set before [us];

And he shall be as the wild tamarisk in the desert. he shall not see when good comes; but he shall dwell in barren [places], and in the wilderness, in a salty land which is not inhabited.

[One is] childless from want and famine, [such as] they that fled but lately the distress and misery of drought.

Thieves have risen up against me,

They will cry out among the rustling [bushes].
