So you shall read this scroll in the ears of the people in the house of the Lord, on the day of fasting; and in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities, you shall read to them.

And it came to pass when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut them off with a penknife, and cast [them] into the fire that was on the hearth, until the whole scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

And you shall say, Thus says the Lord: You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written in here, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come in, and destroy this land, and man and beast shall fail from off it?

Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book.

The word which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in the book by the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.

And Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evils which should come upon Babylon, [even] all these words that are written against Babylon.

And the Lord said to Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and speak in the ears of Joshua; for I will utterly blot out the memorial of Amalek from under heaven.

And when Moses finished writing all the words of this law in a book, even to the end,

And there was found in the city, in the palace, a volume, and this was the record written in it:

(Oh that I had a hearer!) And if I had not feared the hand of the Lord; and as to the written charge which I had against anyone,

Then I said, Behold, I have come; in the volume of the book it is written of me,

And the Lord said to me, Take to yourself a volume of a great new [book], and write in it with a man's pen concerning the making a rapid plunder of spoils; for it is close at hand.

Now then sit down and write these words on a tablet, and in a book; for these things shall be for [many long] days, even forever.

For the people are disobedient, false children, who would not hear the law of God;

And I looked, and behold, a hand stretched out to me, and in it [was] a volume of a book.

And He said to me, Son of Man, eat this volume, and go and speak to the children of Israel.

your mouth shall eat, and your belly shall be filled with this volume that is given to you. So I ate it; and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision, and that plainly on a tablet, that he that reads it may run.

For the vision is yet for a time, and it shall shoot forth at the end, and not in vain: though he should tarry, wait for him; for he will surely come, and will not tarry.

And I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked and behold, a flying sickle.

And he said to me, This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth; for every thief shall be punished with death on this side, and every false swearer shall be punished on that side.

And I saw in the right [hand] of He that sat on the throne a scroll, having been written inside and outside, [and] having been sealed with seven seals.

And no one in heaven above or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, nor to look at it.

But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome, to open the scroll and its seven seals."

Then He came and took out of the right hand of Him that sat on the throne.

And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; because You were slain, and You redeemed us to God by Your blood, out of every tribe and language and people and nation;

Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book.

I will write down a multitude [of commands] for him; but his statutes are accounted strange things, [even] the beloved altars.

Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob, and every family of the house of Israel.

And you retained many shepherds for a stumbling block to yourself. You had a whore's face; you became shameless toward all.

Will [God's anger] continue forever, or be preserved to the end? Behold, you have spoken and done these bad things, as you were able.

And I said after she had committed all these acts of fornication, Turn again to Me. Yet she returned not. And faithless Judah saw her faithlessness.

And her fornication was nothing accounted of; and she committed adultery with wood and stone.

And in the prophets of Samaria I have seen lawless deeds; they prophesied by Baal, and led My people Israel astray.

Also in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen horrible things: as they committed adultery, and walked in lies, and strengthened the hands of many, that they should not return each from his evil way. They have all become to Me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah alone did evil in My sight from their youth.

because of all the wickedness of the children of Israel and Judah, which they have done to provoke Me, they and their kings, and their princes, and their priests, and their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

and they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, by their uncleannesses.

And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of His sight; and there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.

And the Lord was angry with the whole seed of Israel, and troubled them, and gave them into the hand of them that spoiled them, until He cast them out of His presence.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you came forth from the womb, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

Behold, I have appointed you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to rebuild, and to plant.

behold I [will] send and take a family from the north, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all the nations round about it. And I will utterly destroy them, and make them a horror, and a hissing, and an everlasting reproach.

And all the land shall be a desolation; and they shall serve among the Gentiles seventy years.

And I will bring upon that land all My words which I have spoken against it, [even] all things that are written in this book.

Thus said the Lord God of Israel: Take the cup of this unmixed wine from My hand, and you shall cause all the nations to drink, to whom I send you.

So I took the cup out of the Lord's hand, and caused the nations to whom the Lord sent me to drink:

And Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his nobles, and all his people;

and Edom, and the land of Moab, and the children of Ammon,

and Dedan, Tema, Buz, and everyone that is shaved round about the face,

and all the kings of Aelam, and all the kings of the Persians,

And you shall say to them, Thus said the Lord Almighty: Drink, and be drunk; and you shall vomit and fall, and shall by no means rise, because of the sword which I send among you.

For I am beginning to afflict the city which is called by My name, and you shall by no means be held guiltless: for I am calling a sword upon all that dwell upon the earth.

Thus says the Lord against the Philistines:

at the sound of his rushing, at [the sound of] his hoofs, and at the rattling of his chariots, at the noise of his wheels. The fathers turned not to their children because of the weakness of their hands,

Baldness has come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cast away, and the remnant of the Enakim.

How shall it be quiet, seeing the Lord has given it a commission against Ashkelon, and against the regions on the sea coast, to awake against the remaining [countries]!

[accordingly] as the word of God came to him in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

And it was in the days of Joakim, son of Josiah king of Judah, until the eleventh year of Zedekiah king of Judah, [even] until the captivity of Jerusalem in the fifth month.

In the thirteenth year of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah, even until this day for twenty-three years, I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking,
