Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me!

Let that man rejoice as the cities which the Lord overthrew in wrath, and repented not: let him hear crying in the morning, and loud lamentation at noon;

Why is it that I came forth from the womb to see troubles and distresses, and my days are spent in shame?

After this Job opened his mouth, and cursed the day [of his birth],

Let the day perish in which I was born, and that night in which they said, Behold a male child!

But let darkness and the shadow of death seize it; let blackness come upon it.

But let that night be pain, and let not mirth come upon it, nor joy.

Let the stars of that night be darkened; let it remain [dark], and not come into light; and let it not see the morning star arise:

For why did I not die in the belly? And why did I not come forth from the womb and die immediately?

Now I should have lain down and been quiet, I should have slept and been at rest,

or with rulers, whose gold was abundant, who filled their houses with silver:

There the ungodly have burnt out the fury of rage; there the wearied in body rest.

The small and great are there, and the servant that feared his lord.

Who desire death, and obtain it not, digging [for it] as [for] treasures;

Death is rest to such a man, for God has hedged him in.

For the terror of which I meditated has come upon me, and that which I had feared has befallen me.

And I will make you to this people as a strong bronze wall; and they shall fight against you, but they shall by no means prevail against you.

Behold, I have made you this day as a strong city, and as a bronze wall, strong [against] all the kings of Judah and its princes, and the people of the land.

And they shall fight against you, but they shall by no means prevail against you; because I am with you, to deliver you, says the Lord.

You have deceived me, O Lord, and I have been deceived. You have been strong, and have prevailed. I have become a laughing stock, I am continually mocked every day.

For I will laugh with my bitter speech, I will call upon rebellion and misery; for the word of the Lord has become a reproach to me and a mockery all my days.

And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to Elijah, Are you he that perverts Israel?

And Elijah said, I do not pervert Israel; but it is you and your father's house, in that you forsake the Lord your God, and you have gone after the Baals.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found [you]; because you have wickedly sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger;

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is one man here [for us] to inquire of the Lord by; but I hate him, for he does not speak good of me, but only evil; Micaiah son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat king of Judah said, Let not the king say such things!

Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged; I have dwelled among the tents of Kedar.

My soul has long been a sojourner;

And you, son of man, fear them not, nor be dismayed at their face (for they will madden and will rise up against you round about, and you dwell in the midst of scorpions), be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their countenance, for they are a provoking house.

And you shall speak My words to them, whether they will hear or fear; for they are a provoking house.

But the house of Israel will not be willing to hearken to you; for they will not hearken to Me; for all the house of Israel are stubborn and hard-hearted.

And it shall be continually stronger than a rock- be not afraid of them, neither be dismayed at their faces, because they are a provoking house.

Now brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents, and put them to death.

But whenever they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly I say to you, by no means will you have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Then they will hand you over to tribulation and they will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations, on account of My name.

Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against

And bringing them to the magistrates they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city;

And the crowd rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore their clothes and ordered [men] to beat [them] with rods.

But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brothers to the rulers of the city, crying out, "The men who have upset the whole world, these have come here, too;

And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things.

And he entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, debating and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

But when some became hardened and disbelieving, speaking evil against the Way before the multitude, he withdrew from them and separated the disciples, each day debating in the school of a certain Tyrannus.

whom he gathered, with the workers of similar occupation, and said: "Men, you know out of this trade is our prosperity.

And not only is this business of ours in danger to come into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be despised and also her magnificence, about to be destroyed, she whom all Asia and the world worship."

But we request to hear from you the things which you think; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against."

For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men appointed to death; for we became a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

Even unto this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are naked, and beaten, and homeless.

being defamed, we encourage; we have become as the sweepings of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

And if you should lend money to your poor brother who is among you, you shall not be hard upon him- you shall not charge interest from him.

You shall not lend to your brother on usury of silver, or usury of meat, or usury of anything which you may lend out.

You may lend on usury to a stranger, but to your brother you shall not lend on usury; that the Lord your God may bless you in all your works upon the land, into which you are entering to inherit it.

And the cry of the people and their wives [was] great against their brothers the Jews.

And some said, [As to] our fields and vineyards and houses, let us pledge [them], and we will take grain, and eat.

And now our flesh [is] as the flesh of our brothers, our children [are] as their children. Yet behold, we are reducing our sons and our daughters to slavery, and some of our daughters are enslaved; and there is no power of our hands, for our fields and our vineyards [belong] to the nobles.

He has not lent his money on usury, and has not received bribes against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved.

Let them curse, but You shall bless; let them that rise up against me be ashamed, but let Your servant rejoice.

As birds and sparrows fly, so a curse shall not come upon anyone without a cause.

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude you, and shall revile you, and cast out your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
