And You made known to them Your holy Sabbath; You enjoined upon them commandments, and ordinances, and a law, by the hand of Your servant Moses.

And You gave them bread from heaven for their food, and You brought them water from a rock for their thirst; and You told them to go in to inherit the land over which You stretched out Your hand to give to them.

But they and our fathers behaved proudly, and hardened their neck, and did not hearken to Your commandments,

and refused to listen, and remembered not Your wonders which You worked among them. And they hardened their neck, and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You, O God, [are] merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, and You did not forsake them.
18
And still farther they even made for themselves a molded calf, and said, These [are] the gods that brought us up out of Egypt: and they worked great provocations.
19
Yet You in Your great mercy did not forsake them in the wilderness; You did not turn away from them the pillar of the cloud by day, to guide them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to enlighten for them the way in which they should walk.
20
And You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and You did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water in their thirst.
21
And You sustained them forty years in the wilderness; You did not allow anything to fail them. Their garments did not wear out, and their feet were not bruised.
22
Moreover, You gave them kingdoms, and divided nations to them; and they inherited the land of Sihon, king of Hesbron, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

And You multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land of which You spoke to their fathers;
24
And they inherited it; and You destroyed from before them the inhabitants in the land of the Canaanites, and You gave into their hands them and their kings, and the nations of the land, to do unto them as it pleased them.
25
And they took lofty cities, and inherited houses full of all good things, wells [already] dug, vineyards and olive yards, and every fruit tree in abundance. So they ate, and were filled, and grew fat, and delighted themselves in Your great goodness.

But they turned, and revolted from You, and cast Your law behind their backs; and they killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them back to You, and they worked great provocations.
27
Then You gave them into the hand of them that afflicted them, and they did afflict them. And they cried to You in the time of their affliction, and You heard them from heaven, and in Your great mercy You gave them deliverers, and saved them from the hand of them that afflicted them.
28
But when they rested, they did evil again before You, so You left them in the hands of their enemies, and they ruled over them; and they cried again to You, and You heard from heaven, and delivered them in Your great mercy.
29
And You testified against them, to bring them back to Your law; but they hearkened not, and sinned against Your commandments and Your judgments, which if a man does, he shall live in them; and they turned their back, and hardened their neck, and heard not.
30
Yet You had patience with them for many years, and testified to them by Your Spirit by the hand of Your prophets: but they hearkened not; so You gave them into the hand of the nations of the land.
31
But You in Your many mercies did not appoint them to destruction, and did not forsake them; for You are strong, and merciful, and compassionate.
32
And now, O our God, the powerful, the great, the mighty, and the terrible, keeping Your covenant and Your mercy, let not all this trouble seem little in Your sight which has come upon us, and our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our prophets, and our fathers, and upon all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria even to this day.
33
For You [are] righteous in all the things that come upon us; and You have dealt faithfully, but we have greatly sinned.
34
And our kings, and our princes, and our priests, and our fathers, have not performed Your law, and have not given heed to Your commandments, and [have not kept] Your testimonies which You testified to them.
35
And they did not serve You in Your kingdom, and in Your great goodness which You gave to them, and in the large and fat land which You furnished before them, and they turned not from their evil devices.
36
Behold, we are servants this day, and [as for] the land which You gave to our fathers, to eat the fruit of it and the good things of it, behold, we are servants upon it;
37
and its produce [is] abundant for the kings whom You appointed over us because of our sins; and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, as it pleases them, and we are in great affliction.
Psalm 78:1-72
1
[A Psalm] of instruction, of Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law; incline your ear to the words of my mouth.
2
I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter dark sayings [which have been] from the beginning.
3
All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us.
4
They were not hid from their children to a second generation; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and His mighty acts, and His wonders which He has done.
5
And He raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children;
6
that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.
7
That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek His commandments.
8
That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.
9
The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting [with] the bow, turned [back] in the day of battle.
10
They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in His law.
11
And they forgot His benefits, and His miracles which He [had] shown them;
12
the miracles which He did before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Zoan.
13
He divided the sea, and led them through; He made the waters to stand as [in] a bottle.
14
And He guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
15
He split a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.
16
And He brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.
17
And they sinned yet more against Him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.
18
And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for [the desire of] their souls.
19
They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
20
Forasmuch as He struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will He be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for His people?
21
Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.
22
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation.
23
Yet He commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24
and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.
25
Man ate angels' bread; He sent them provision to the full.
26
He removed the south wind from heaven; and by His might He brought in the south west wind.
27
And He rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand on the seashore.
28
And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.
29
So they ate, and were completely filled; and He gave them their desire.
30
They were not disappointed of their desire, [but] when their food was yet in their mouth,
31
then the indignation of God rose up against them, and slew the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel.
32
In the midst of all this they sinned yet more, and believed not His miracles.
33
And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years with anxiety.
34
When He slew them, they sought Him; and they returned and sought diligently after God.
35
And they remembered that God was their Helper, and the Most High God was their Redeemer.
36
Yet they loved Him [only] with their mouth, and lied to Him with their tongue.
37
For their heart [was] not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant.
38
But He is compassionate, and will forgive their sins, and will not destroy [them;] yea, He will frequently turn away His wrath, and will not kindle all His anger.
39
And He remembered that they are flesh; a wind that passes away, and returns not.
40
How often did they provoke Him in the wilderness, [and] anger Him in a dry land!
41
Yea, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42
They remembered not His hand, the day in which He delivered them from the hand of the oppressor.
43
How He had worked His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan;
44
and had changed their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they should not drink.
45
He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them.
46
And He gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labors to the locust.
47
He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost.
48
And He gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire.
49
He sent out against them the fury of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels.
50
He made a way for His wrath; He spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death;
51
and He struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the firstfruits of their labors in the tents of Ham.

And He removed His people like sheep; He led them as a flock in the wilderness.
53
And He guided them with hope, and they feared not: but the sea covered their enemies.
54
And He brought them in to the mountain of His sanctuary, this mountain which His right hand had purchased.
55
And He cast out the nations from before them, and made them to inherit by a line of inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56
Yet they tempted and provoked the Most High God, and kept not His testimonies.
57
And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers; they became like a crooked bow.

And they provoked Him with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.

God heard and lightly regarded [them], and greatly despised Israel.
60
And He rejected the tabernacle of Shiloh, His tent where He dwelt among men.
61
And He gave their strength into captivity, and their beauty into the enemy's hand.
62
And He gave His people to the sword; and disdained His inheritance.
63
Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins mourned not.
64
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows shall not be wept for.

So the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, [and] as a mighty man who has been heated with wine.

And He beat back His enemies; He brought on them a perpetual reproach.

And He rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68
but chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which He loved.

And He built His sanctuary as [the place] of unicorns; He founded it forever on the earth.
70
He chose David also His servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep.
71
He took him from following the ewes great with young, to be the shepherd of Jacob His servant, and Israel His inheritance.
72
So he tended them in the innocence of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
Psalm 105:1-106

Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord, and call upon His name; declare His works among the heathen.

Sing to Him, yea, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonderful works.

Glory in His holy name; let the heart of them that seek the Lord rejoice.

Seek the Lord, and be strengthened; seek His face continually.

Remember His wonderful works that He has done; His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth;

They hurt his feet with fetters; his soul came into iron,

until the time that his cause came on; the word of the Lord tried him as fire.

The king sent and loosed him; [even] the prince of the people, and let him go free.

He made him Lord over his house, and ruler of all his substance;

to chastise his rulers at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom.

Israel also came into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

And He increased His people greatly, and made them stronger than their enemies.

And He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

He sent forth Moses His servant, [and] Aaron whom He had chosen.

He sent forth darkness, and made it dark; yet they rebelled against His words.

He turned their rain into hail, [and sent] flaming fire in their land.

And He smote their vines and their fig trees; and broke every tree of their coast.

He spoke, and the locust came, and caterpillars innumerable,

and devoured all the grass in their land, and devoured the fruit of the ground.

He smote also every firstborn of their land, the firstfruits of all their labor.

And He brought them out with silver and gold; and there was not a feeble one among their tribes.

Egypt rejoiced at their departing; for the fear of them fell upon them.

He spread out a cloud for a covering to them, and fire to give them light by night.

They asked, and the quail came, and He satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

He split the rock, and the waters flowed; rivers ran in dry places.

For He remembered His holy word, which [He promised] to Abraham His servant.

And He brought out His people with exaltation, and His elect with joy;

and He gave them the lands of the heathen; and they inherited the labors of the people;

that they might keep His ordinances, and diligently seek His law.
Psalm 111:4
He has caused His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
Jeremiah 23:7
Therefore behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when they shall no more say, The Lord lives, who brought up the house of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

To you, O Lord, [belongs] righteousness, and to us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the earth, wherever You have scattered them, for the sin which they have committed.

In you, O Lord, is our righteousness, and to us [belongs] confusion of face, and to our kings, and to our princes, and to our fathers, forasmuch as we have sinned.

To you, O Lord our God, [belong] compassion and forgiveness, whereas we have departed [from You.]

Neither have we heeded the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by the hands of His servants the prophets.

Moreover, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and have refused to heed Your voice; so the curse has come upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.
12
And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, [by] bringing upon us great evils, such as have not happened under the whole heaven, according to what has happened in Jerusalem.
13
As it is written in the Law of Moses, all these evils have come upon us: yet we have not sought after the Lord our God, that we might turn away from our iniquities, and have understanding in all Your truth.
14
The Lord also has watched, and brought these evils upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all His work which He has executed, but we have not heeded His voice.
15
And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made to Yourself a name, as [it is] this day; we have sinned, we have transgressed.

Isaiah 45:5
For I am the Lord God, and there is no other God beside Me; I strengthened you, and you have not known Me.

That they that [come] from the east and they that [come] from the west may know that there is no God but Me. I am the Lord God, and there is none beside.
