where you are, and where your works are; they have chosen you an abomination out of the earth.

For [these] are your makers, [as you think], and they that cause you to err in vain.

Cursed [is] the man whosoever shall make a graven or molten image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of craftsmen, and shall put it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, So be it.

Let all that worship graven images be ashamed, who boast of their idols; worship Him, all you His angels.

For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image.

they will set them up that they may not move.

For in that day a man shall cast forth his silver and gold abominations, which they made, [in order] to worship vanities and bats;

to enter into the caverns of the solid rock, and into the clefts of the rocks, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of His might, when He shall arise to strike mightily the earth.

For truly, Lord, the kings of the Assyrians have laid waste the whole world, and the countries thereof,

But now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hands, that every kingdom of the earth may know that You alone are God.

Bel has fallen, Nebo is broken to pieces, their graven images have gone to the wild beasts and the cattle; you take them packed up as a burden to the weary, exhausted, hungry, and [at the same time] helpless man;

who will not be able to save themselves from war, but they themselves are led [away] captive.

They that furnish gold out of a purse, and silver by weight, will weigh it in a scale, and they hire a goldsmith and make idols, and bow down, and worship them.

They bear it upon the shoulder, and go; and if they put it upon its place, it remains, it cannot move; and whosoever shall cry to it, it cannot hear; it cannot save him from trouble.

Go, and cry to the gods whom you have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction.

And they took the bull and dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning till noon, and said, hear us, O Baal, hear us. And there was no voice, neither was there hearing, and they ran up and down on the alter which they had made.

And they cried with a loud voice, and cut themselves according to their custom with knives and lancets until the blood gushed out upon them.

And Elijah said to the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him.

And he built up the stones in the name of the Lord, and repaired the altar that had been broken down; and he made a trench that would hold two measures of seed round about the altar.

And he said, Do it a second time. And they did it a second time. And he said, Do it a third time. And they did it a third time.

And Elijah cried aloud to the heavens, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, answer me, O Lord, answer me this day by fire, and let all this people know that You are the Lord, the God of Israel, and I [am] Your servant, and for Your sake I have done these works.

Then fire fell from the Lord out of heaven, and devoured the whole burnt offerings, and the wood and the water that was in the trench, and the fire licked up the stones and the earth.

And Elijah said to the people, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon, and he executed them there.

if the nations will change their gods, though they are not gods: but My people have changed their glory, [for that] from which they shall not be profited.

They said to a tree, You are my father; and to a stone, You have begotten me; and they have turned [their] backs to Me, and not their faces. Yet in the time of their afflictions they will say, Arise, and save us.

And where are your gods which you have made for yourself? Will they arise and save [you] in the time of your affliction? For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem they sacrificed to Baal.

Is there anyone among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? And will the sky yield His fullness [at their bidding]? Are not You He? We will even wait on You, O Lord, for You have made all these things.

O Lord, You are my strength and my help, and my refuge in days of evil. To You the Gentiles shall come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, How worthless [were the] idols [which] our fathers procured for themselves, and there is no help in them.

Will a man make gods for himself, whereas these are no gods?

And you have exalted yourself against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of His house, and you, your nobles, your mistresses, and your concubines have drunk wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

They have made kings for themselves, but not by Me: they have ruled, but they did not make it known to Me: [of] their silver and their gold they have made images to themselves, that they might be destroyed.

Seeing the workman made it, and it is not God; for your calf, O Samaria, was a deceiver.

What profit is the graven image, that they have graven it? One has made it a molten work, a false image; for the maker has trusted in his work, to make dumb idols.

But the Lord is in His holy temple: let all the earth fear before Him.

Therefore concerning the eating of the things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

And he shall honor the god of fortresses in his place: and a god whom his fathers knew not he shall honor with gold, and silver, and precious stones, and desirable things.

They have no understanding to perceive; for they have been blinded so that they should not see with their eyes, nor perceive with their heart.

Know that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul; see, you will not say, [There is a] lie in my right hand.

Hear, you deaf, and look up, you blind, to see.

and I have brought forth the blind people; for [their] eyes are alike blind, and those that have ears are deaf.

Assemble yourselves and come; take counsel together, you that escape from the nations. They that set up wood, [even] their graven image, have no knowledge, nor do they who pray to gods that do not save.

Let those that make them become like them, and all who trust in them.

Let those who make them be made like them; and all those who trust in them.

Professing to be wise, they became fools,

among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

having been darkened in understanding, being estranged from the life of God, because of the ignorance which is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light--
