Judah has mourned, and her gates are emptied, and are darkened upon the earth; and the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.

DALETH. The ways of Zion mourn, because there are none that come to the feast. All her gates are ruined. Her priests groan, her virgins are led captive, and she is in bitterness in herself.

Come down, sit on the ground, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called tender and luxurious.

And he took a potsherd to scrape away the discharge, and sat upon a dung heap outside the city.

And all the princes of the nations of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and shall take off their crowns from their heads, and shall take off their embroidered garments; they shall be utterly amazed; they shall sit upon the ground, and fear their [own] destruction, and shall groan over you.

and they will level you to the ground, and your children with you; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the season of your visitation."
