Because of the misery of the poor, and because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the Lord, I will set [them] in safety; I will speak [to them] openly.

Do no violence to the poor, for he is needy, neither dishonor the helpless man in the gates.

For the Lord will plead his cause, and you shall deliver your soul in safety.

Remove not the ancient landmarks, and enter not upon the possession of the fatherless;

for the Lord is their redeemer; He is mighty, and will plead their cause with you.

Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel: for the Lord [has] a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Cursing, and lying, and murder, and theft, and adultery bound in the land, and they mingle blood with blood.

Hear, O you mountains, the controversy of the Lord, and you valleys; even the foundations of the earth: for the Lord has a controversy with His people, and will plead with Israel.
