Therefore behold, I will proceed to remove this people, and I will remove them; and I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will hide the understanding of the prudent.

You shall hear indeed, but you shall not understand; and you shall see indeed, but you shall not perceive.

For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

So David took the spear, and the pitcher of water from his bolster, and they went home. And there was no one that saw, and no one that knew, and there was no one that awoke, all being asleep, for a stupor from the Lord had fallen upon them.

Let their eyes be darkened that they should not see; and bow down their back continually.

therefore there shall be night to you instead of a vision, and there shall be to you darkness instead of prophecy; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be dark upon them.

saying, 'Go to this people and say: "Hearing you will hear, and by no means understand; and seeing you shall see, and by no means perceive;

For the hearts of this people has become dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and they should hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart and turn back, so that I should heal them."'

Just as it is written: "God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."

They have no understanding to perceive; for they have been blinded so that they should not see with their eyes, nor perceive with their heart.

And if a prophet should cause to err and should speak, I the Lord have caused that prophet to err, and I will stretch out My hand upon him, and will utterly destroy him from the midst of My people Israel.

among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

whose coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

And because of this, God will send them strong delusion, in order for them to believe the lie,

the great and mighty man, the warrior and the judge, the prophet, the counselor, and the elder,

the captain of fifty also, and the honorable counselor, and the wise artificer, and the intelligent hearer.

And He shall say, Hear now these words, you heads of the house of Jacob, and you remnant of the house of Israel; is it not for you to know judgment?

who say to the prophets, Report not to us; and to them that see visions, Speak [them] not to us, but speak and report to us another error;

Now formerly in Israel, everyone who went to inquire of God said, Come and let us go to the seer; for the people formerly called the prophet, the seer.

And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had ceased speaking all that the Lord had ordered him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the false prophets and all the people took him, saying,

And the princes of Judah heard this word, and they went up out of the house of the king to the house of the Lord, and sat in the entrance of the new gate.

And Amaziah said to Amos, Go, seer, remove yourself to the land of Judah, and live there, and you shall prophesy there:

but you shall no longer prophesy at Bethel- for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the royal house.
