And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers, and this people shall arise and go a whoring after the strange gods of the land, into which they are entering: and they will forsake Me, and break My covenant, which I made with them.

And I will be very angry with them in that day, and I will leave them and turn My face away from them, and they shall be devoured. And many evils and afflictions shall come upon them, and they shall say in that day, Because the Lord my God is not with me, these evils have come upon me.

And he went out to meet Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin, and said, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord [is] with you, while you are with Him; and if you seek Him out, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stood up above the people and said, Thus says the Lord: Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord? So shall you not prosper; for you have forsaken the Lord, and He will forsake you.

Why will You utterly forget us, and abandon us a long time?

I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know [what the Scripture says] in Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,

Well [said]. By unbelief they were broken off, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear.

And he took up his parable, and said, Balak king of Moab sent for me out of Mesopotamia, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, call for a curse upon Israel for me.

And if they should say to you, Seek those who have in them a divining spirit, and them that speak out of the earth, them that speak vain words, who speak out of their belly; shall not a nation diligently seek their God? Why do they look to the dead concerning the living?

Stand now with your enchantments, and with the abundance of your sorcery, which you have learned from your youth; if you can be profited.

You are wearied in your counsels. Let now the astrologers of the heaven stand and deliver you, let them that see the stars tell you what is about to come upon you.

You shall not save the lives of sorcerers.

You shall not attend to those who have in them divining spirits, nor attach yourselves to enchanters, to pollute yourselves with them: I am the Lord your God.

And the soul that shall follow those who have in them divining spirits, or enchanters, so as to go a whoring after them; I will set My face against that soul, and will destroy it from among its people.

There shall not be found in you one who purges his son or his daughter with fire, or one who uses divination, or [one] who deals with omens, or a sorcerer

For everyone that does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God; for because of these abominations the Lord shall destroy them from before your face.

For all these nations whose [land] you shall inherit, they will listen to omens and divinations; but the Lord your God has not permitted you [to do] so.

So Saul died for his transgressions, wherein he transgressed against God, against the word of the Lord, forasmuch as he kept [it] not, because Saul inquired of a wizard to seek [counse]l, and Samuel the prophet answered him;

and you should take of their daughters to your sons, and you should give of your daughters to their sons; and your daughters should go a whoring after their gods, and your sons should go a whoring after their gods.

And Israel sojourned in Shittim, and the people profaned themselves by committing harlotry with the daughters of Moab.

And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.

and should see among the spoil a woman beautiful in countenance, and should desire her, and take her to yourself for a wife,

and shall take away her garments of captivity from off her, and she shall abide in your house, and shall mourn her father and mother for a full month; and afterwards you shall go in to her and dwell with her, and she shall be your wife.

And King Solomon was a lover of women. And he took strange women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh, Moabite and Ammonite women, Syrians and Edomites, Hittites and Amorites;

of the nations concerning whom the Lord forbade the children of Israel, [saying], You shall not go in to them, and they shall not come in to you, lest they turn away your hearts after their idols; Solomon clung to these in love.

And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, [and] of Moab.

but were mingled with the heathen, and learned their works.

Thus says the Lord: Learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not alarmed at the signs of the sky; for they are alarmed at them, [falling] on their faces.
