We brought a report as [of] a child before Him; [He is] as a root in a thirsty land; He has no form, nor comeliness; and we saw Him, but He had no form nor beauty.

and you shall say to him, Thus says the Lord Almighty; Behold the man whose name is the Branch; and He shall spring up from His stem, and build the house of the Lord.

But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome, to open the scroll and its seven seals."

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Stock of David, the Bright and Morning Star."

And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, and He that shall arise to rule over the Gentiles; in Him shall the Gentiles trust, and His rest shall be glorious.

And the neighbors gave him a name, saying, A son has been born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed; this [is] the father of Jesse, the father of David.

and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.

Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.

And after the captivity in Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.

Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.

And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

(just as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the LORD"),

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, that they might do for Him according to the custom of the law,

"Lord, now You are releasing Your servant in peace, according to Your word;

which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,

And removing him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom He also said bearing witness, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, [to be] a man in accordance with My [own] heart, who will do all My will.'

God, from the seed of this [man], according to the promise, has brought to Israel salvation,

And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be the root of Jesse; and He that shall rise to rule over the Gentiles, in Him the Gentiles shall hope."

And in that day God shall shine gloriously in counsel on the earth, to exalt and glorify the remnant of Israel.

Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and understand, and shall execute judgment and righteousness on the earth.
