And moreover I saw under the sun: [In] the place of judgment, wickedness [was] there; and in the place of righteousness, there was godliness.

So I returned, and saw all the oppressions that were done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of them that oppressed them was power; but they had no comforter.

Because of the misery of the poor, and because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the Lord, I will set [them] in safety; I will speak [to them] openly.

Destroy, O LORD, and divide their tongues, for I have seen iniquity and gainsaying in the city.

And a man shall say, Verily then there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges them in the earth.

I love those that love me, and they that seek me shall find me.

How long, O Lord, shall I cry out, and You will not hear? How long shall I cry out to You being injured, and You will not save?

Why have You shown me troubles and grievances to look upon, misery and ungodliness? Judgment is before me, and the judge receives a reward.

His eye is too pure to behold evil doings, and to look upon grievous afflictions: why do You look upon despisers? Will You be silent when the ungodly swallows up the just?

Thus says the Lord Almighty; If it shall be impossible in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, shall it also be impossible in My sight? Says the Lord Almighty.

Do not marvel, my brothers, if the world hates you.

I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

But the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the Beast carrying her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

Woe to the Assyrians; the rod of My wrath and anger are in their hands.

But he does not mean so, neither did he devise thus in his heart; but his mind shall change, and [that] to destroy nations not a few.

declaring beforehand the latter events before they come to pass, and they are accomplished together; and I said, all My counsel shall stand, and I will do all things that I have planned;

calling a bird from the east, and from a land afar off, for the things which I have planned; I have spoken, and brought [him]; I have created and made [him]; I have brought him, and prospered his way.

Are You not from everlasting, O Lord God, my Holy One? And surely we shall not die. O Lord, You have established it for judgment, and He has formed me to chasten with His correction.

"For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,

to do all that Your hand and Your counsel foreordained to come to pass.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and untraceable [are] His ways!

Thus says the Most High, who dwells on high forever, Holy in the holies is His name, the Most High resting in the holies, and giving patience to the faint-hearted, and giving life to the broken-hearted;

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of His father David.

And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy Baby which is to be born shall be called the Son of God.

"And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,

And you shall speak to him, saying, Thus says the Lord: Forasmuch as you have slain and taken possession, therefore thus says the Lord, In every place where the swine and the dogs have licked the blood of Naboth, there shall the dogs lick your blood; and the harlots shall wash themselves in your blood.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found [you]; because you have wickedly sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger;

For he has broken down the houses of many mighty men, and he has plundered a house, though he built it not.

There is nothing remaining of his provisions, therefore his goods shall not flourish.

If by any means he would fill his belly, let [God] send upon him the fury of wrath; let Him bring a torrent of pains upon him.

And let the arrow pierce through his body; and let the stars be against his dwelling-place: let terrors come upon him.

And let the heavens reveal his iniquities, and the earth rise up against him.

This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of his goods [appointed him] by the all-seeing [God].

For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? Will he indeed trust in the Lord and be saved?

has he any confidence before Him? Or will [God] hear him as he calls upon Him?

Behold, you all know that you are adding vanity to vanity.

And if their children are many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg.

Even if he should gather silver as dust, and prepare gold as clay,

And his house is gone like moths, and like a spider's web.

Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night.

And [God] shall cast [trouble] upon him, and not spare: he flees desperately from out of His hand.

The Lord has heard the desire of the poor: Your ear has inclined to the preparation of their heart;

to plead for the orphan and afflicted, that man may no more boast upon the earth. [In the Septuagint, Psalms 9 and 10 are combined, and the Psalm numbers differ from this point on. [The Apostles' Bible] follows the traditional Psalm divisions, to avoid confusion.]

The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance of the ungodly; he shall wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.

And a man shall say, Verily then there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges them in the earth.

A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of gods; and in the midst [of them] will judge gods.

And let them know that Your name is Lord; that You alone are Most High over all the earth.

A talkative man shall not prosper on the earth: evils shall hunt the unrighteous man to destruction.

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the poor, and the right of the needy ones.

Why do you wrong My people, and shame the face of the poor?

For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah [His] beloved plant; I expected [it] to bring forth judgment, and it brought forth iniquity; and not righteousness, but a cry.

We have sinned, and dealt falsely, and revolted from our God; we have spoken unrighteous words, and have been disobedient; we have conceived and uttered from our heart unrighteous words.

And truth has been taken away, and they have turned aside [their] mind from understanding. And the Lord saw it, and it pleased Him not that there was no judgment.

Behold, your eyes are not good, nor your heart, but [they go] after your covetousness, and after the innocent blood to shed it, and after acts of injustice and slaughter, to commit them.

He shall be buried with the burial of a donkey; he shall be dragged roughly along and cast outside the gate of Jerusalem.

Behold, the princes of the house of Israel have conspired in you each one with his kindred, that they might shed blood.

And they have set at nought My holy things, and in you they have profaned My Sabbaths.

In you they have uncovered the father's shame; and in you they have humbled her that was set apart for uncleanness.

In you they have received gifts to shed blood; they have received in you interest and usurious increase; and by oppression you have brought your wickedness to the full, and have forgotten Me, says the Lord.

shall your heart endure? Shall your hands be strong in the days which I bring upon you? I the Lord have spoken, and will do [it].

For I know your many transgressions, and your sins are great, trampling on the just, taking bribes, and turning aside [the judgment of] the poor in the gates.

O house of Israel, pass by all of you, and see; and pass by from there to Hamath; and from there descend to Gath of the Philistines, the chief of all these kingdoms, see if their coasts are greater than your coasts.

who sleep upon beds of ivory, and live delicately on their couches, and eat kids out of the flocks, and calves out of the midst of the stalls;

who drink strained wine, and anoint themselves with the best ointment, and have suffered nothing on occasion of the calamity of Joseph.

Hear now this, you that oppress the poor in the morning, and drive the needy ones by tyranny from the earth,

That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for shoes; and we will trade in every kind of fruit.

They meditated troubles, and wrought wickedness on their beds, and they put it in execution with the daylight; for they have not lifted up their hands to God.

Therefore thus says the Lord; Behold, I devise evils against this family, out of which you shall not lift up your necks, neither shall you walk upright speedily: for the time is evil.

And He shall say, Hear now these words, you heads of the house of Jacob, and you remnant of the house of Israel; is it not for you to know judgment?

even as they devoured the flesh of My people, and stripped their skins off them, and broke their bones, and divided [them] as flesh for the caldron, and as meat for the pot,

Hear now these words, you chiefs of the house of Jacob, and the remnant of the house of Israel, who hate judgment, and pervert all righteousness;

Their heads have judged for gifts, and their priests have answered for hire, and her prophets have divined for silver: and yet they have rested on the Lord, saying, Is not the Lord among us? No evil shall come upon us.

[Is there] not fire, and the house of the wicked heaping up wicked treasures, and that with the pride of unrighteousness?

whereby they have accumulated their ungodly wealth, and they that dwell in the city have uttered falsehoods, and their tongue has been exalted in their mouth?

Thus says the Lord Almighty; Judge righteous judgment, and deal mercifully and compassionately, everyone with his brother,

But they refused to attend, and madly turned their back, and made their ears heavy, so that they should not hear.

Therefore it came to pass, [that] as He spoke and they did not listen, so they shall cry, and I will not listen, says the Lord Almighty.

And I will draw near to you in judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the witches, and against the adulteresses, and against them that swear falsely by My name, and against them that keep back the hireling's wages, and them that oppress the widow, and afflict orphans, and that wrest the judgment of the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord Almighty.

For judgment is without mercy to the one who does not show mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Your riches have decayed, and your garments have become moth-eaten.

Indeed, the wages of the laborers who reaped your fields, which were kept back by you, cry out, and the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.

You have condemned; you have murdered the just. He does not resist you.

And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord saw, and relented of the disaster, and said to the angel that was destroying, Let it suffice; withhold your hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord, standing between earth and heaven, and his sword was drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem. And David and the elders clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King over all gods; for the Lord will not cast off His people.

And the angel of the Lord went forth, and killed out of the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand; and they arose in the morning and found all [these] bodies dead.

The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who work iniquity,

and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And behold, an angel of the Lord stood [there], and a light shined in the prison room; and striking the side of Peter, he roused him saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell away from his hands.

And going out, he was following him, and did not know that the thing taking place by the angel was true, but he was thinking that he was seeing a vision.
