And Pharaoh, having sent, called Joseph; and they brought him out from the prison, and shaved him, and changed his clothes, and he came to Pharaoh.

Now then, select a wise and prudent man, and set him over the land of Egypt.

And let them gather all the food of these seven good years that are coming, and let the grain be gathered under the hand of Pharaoh; let food be kept in the cities.

And the word was pleasing in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of all his servants.

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has shown you all these things, there is not a wiser or more prudent man than you.

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Behold, I set you this day over all the land of Egypt.

And he mounted him on the second of his chariots, and a herald made proclamation before him; and he set him over all the land of Egypt.

who exalts the lowly, and raises up them that are lost:

who lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises up the needy from the dunghill;

to set him with princes, [even] with the princes of His people;

and took all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and the golden spears which David took out of the hand of the sons of Adrazar king of Sheba, and brought them into Jerusalem, even all that he took, [and] the golden shields which Solomon had made, [and carried them away into Egypt].

And King Rehoboam made bronze shields in place of them. And the chiefs of the body guard, who kept the gate of the house of the king, were placed in charge over them.

Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem; and his mother's name [was] Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

And Pharaoh Necho removed him to Riblah in the land of Hamath, so that he should not reign in Jerusalem; and he imposed a tribute on the land, a hundred talents of silver, and a hundred talents of gold.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant [for] three years. And [then] he turned and revolted against him.

And the Lord sent [raiding] bands of Chaldeans against him, and bands of Syrians, and bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites, and sent them into the land of Judah to prevail [against it], according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by His servants the prophets.

And Jehoiakim slept with his fathers; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

And Jehoiachin king of Judah came forth to the king of Babylon, he and his servants, and his mother, and his princes, and his eunuchs; and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

And he killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in fetters, and brought him to Babylon.

And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the carrying away of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, [that] Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the [first] year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him out of his prison house.

and changed his prison garments; and he ate bread continually before him all the days of his life.

RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, our anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In His shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.

While the word was yet in the king's mouth, there came a voice from heaven, [saying], King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken, The kingdom has departed from you.
