For it happens to a man in all his labor, and in the purpose of his heart in which he labors under the sun.

What advantage [has] he that works in those things in which he labors?

And this is also an evil infirmity; for as he came, so also shall he return. And what is his gain, for which he labors in vain?

If you are poor, measure not yourself with a rich man, but refrain yourself in your wisdom.

If you should fix your eye upon him, he will disappear; for wings like an eagle's are prepared for him, and he returns to the house of his master.

Why do you value at the price of money, and [give] your labor for that which will not satisfy? Hearken to Me, and you shall eat that which is good, and your soul shall feast itself on good things.

Are not these things of the Lord Almighty? Surely many people have been exhausted in the fire, and many nations have fainted.

What profit is the graven image, that they have graven it? One has made it a molten work, a false image; for the maker has trusted in his work, to make dumb idols.

For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give [as] an exchange for his soul?

For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul?

Or what shall a man give [as] an equivalent for his soul?

Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for [upon] Him God the Father has set [His] seal."

And I looked on all my works which my hands had done, and on my labor which I labored to perform, and behold, all was vanity and grasping for the wind, and there is no advantage under the sun.

And who knows whether he will be wise, or a fool? And whether he will have power over all my labor in which I labored, and in which I grew wise under the sun? This is also vanity.

Better also than both these is he who has not yet been, who has not seen all the evil work that is done under the sun.

So I returned, and saw vanity under the sun.

Behold, I have seen good, that it is a fine thing [for a man] to eat and to drink, and to see good in all his labor in which he may labor under the sun; [all] the number of the days of his life which God has given to him; for it is his portion.

For who knows [what is] good for a man in his life, [during] the number of the life of the days of his vanity? And he has spent them as a shadow; for who shall tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

Wisdom is good with an inheritance; and [there is] an advantage [by it] to them that see the sun.

Then I praised mirth, because there is no good for a man under the sun, but to eat, and drink, and be merry. And this shall attend him in his labor all the days of his life, which God has given him under the sun.

And I beheld all the works of God, that a man shall not be able to discover the work which is done under the sun. Whatever things a man shall endeavor to seek, however a man may labor to seek it, yet he shall not find it. Moreover, [though] a wise man may speak of knowing it, he shall not be able to find it; for I applied all this to my heart, and my heart has seen all this.

There is this evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all. Yea, the heart of the sons of men is filled with evil, and madness is in their heart during their life, and after that [they go] to the dead.

Also their love and their hatred and their envy have now perished. Yea, there is no portion for them anymore, forever in all that is done under the sun.

This I also saw [to be] wisdom under the sun, and it is great before me.
