And the hand of the Lord [was] upon Elijah, and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to Jezreel.

And Elisha said to Gehazi, Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go: if you meet any man, you shall not greet him, and if a man greet you, you shall not answer him; and you shall lay my staff on the child's face.

Gird your loins like a man, and I will ask you, and you shall answer Me!

"Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning;

Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, stay sober, put your hope fully in the grace brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

But their bow and arrows were mightily consumed, and the sinews of their arms were slackened by the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob; this is he that strengthened Israel from the God of your father;

For the artificer sharpens the iron; he fashions [the idol] with an ax, and fixes it with an awl, and fashions it with the strength of his arm; and he will be hungry and weak, and will drink no water.

They were instructed by Me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against Me.
