And Abishai said to David, The Lord has delivered your enemy into your hands this day, and now I will strike him to the earth with this spear, once [for all], and I will not have to strike him again.

And David said to Abishai, Do not lay him low, for who shall lift up his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?

And I broke the fangs of the wicked; I plucked the spoil out of the midst of their teeth.

Rescue the needy, and deliver the poor out of the hand of the sinner.

I have not chosen such a fast, says the Lord; but do you loose every burden of iniquity, do you untie the knots of hard bargains, set the bruised free, and cancel every unjust account?

Break your bread to the hungry, and lead the unsheltered poor to your house; if you see one naked, clothe [him], and you shall not disregard the relations of your own seed.

Now by coincidence a certain priest was coming down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.

Likewise a Levite, arriving at the place, came and saw, and passed by on the opposite side.

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And their voices and [those] of the chief priests prevailed.

And he released whom they were requesting, who because of insurrection and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

Then all the Greeks, taking hold of Sosthenes the ruler of the synagogue, were beating him before the judgment seat. And none of these things was a concern to Gallio.

And seeking to kill him, a report went up to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem had been stirred up,

who immediately having taken along soldiers and centurions, ran down among them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

And when much dissension developed, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be torn apart by them, commanded the detachment of soldiers to go down and seize him from the midst of them, and to bring [him] into the barracks.

And having summoned two of the centurions he said, "Make ready two hundred soldiers, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen, in order that they may go to Caesarea, to leave at the third hour of the night;

And he wrote a letter which contained this content:

This man, having been arrested by the Jews, was about to be killed by them. I came upon [them] with the detachment of soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he is a Roman.

and I found that he was accused concerning questions of their law, [but] had no accusation [against him] worthy of death or chains.

Then the soldiers, as they were commanded, took Paul and brought him during the night to Antipatris.

When they entered into Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, [they] also presented Paul to him.

he said, "I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive." And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod's Praetorium.

By this we have come to know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives in behalf of our brothers.

But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother having need, and shuts off his compassion towards him, how does the love of God abide in him?
