Instruction is to them that use it a gracious reward; and wherever it may turn, it shall prosper.

Many court the favor of kings, but every bad man becomes a reproach to [another] man.

A secret gift calms anger, but he that forbears to give stirs up strong wrath.

And Jacob said, If I have found grace in your sight, receive the gifts through my hands; therefore have I seen your face, as if anyone should see the face of God, and you shall be well-pleased with me.

And Israel their father said to them, If it be so, do this; take of the fruits of the earth in your vessels, and carry down to the man presents of balm and honey, frankincense and myrrh, pistachio nuts and walnuts.

And now accept this token of goodwill, which your servant has brought to my lord, and you shall give it to the servants that wait on my lord.
