but you disdained my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs;

But My people hearkened not to My voice; and Israel gave no heed to Me.

I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the joy of my heart.

Let Your hand be [prompt] to save me; for I have chosen Your commandments.

The wise men are ashamed, and alarmed, and taken; because they have rejected the word of the Lord; what wisdom is there in them?

But they all with one [accord] began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, 'I bought a field, and I must go and see it. I ask you, have me excused.'

Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'
