And Israel sojourned in Shittim, and the people profaned themselves by committing harlotry with the daughters of Moab.

And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.

neither shall you contract marriages with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter to your son.

For he will draw away your son from Me, and he will serve other gods; and the Lord will be very angry with you, and will soon utterly destroy you.

of the nations concerning whom the Lord forbade the children of Israel, [saying], You shall not go in to them, and they shall not come in to you, lest they turn away your hearts after their idols; Solomon clung to these in love.

And it came to pass in the time of Solomon's old age, that his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as [was] the heart of David his father.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and their sons, and the holy seed has passed among the nations of the lands, and the hand of the rulers [has been] first in this transgression.

And in those days I saw the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, [and] of Moab.

And I strove with them and cursed them; and I struck some of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, [saying,] You shall not give your daughters to their sons, and you shall not take of their daughters to your sons.

Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what participation is there for righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion is there for light with darkness?

And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
