Now Moses, at this saying, fled and became a stranger in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons.

And the woman conceived and bore a son, and Moses called his name Gershom, saying, I am a sojourner in a strange land.

O Lord, hearken to my prayer and my supplication; attend to my tears; be not silent, for I am a sojourner in the land, and a stranger, as all my fathers [were].

These all died according to faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and welcoming [them], and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;
