The pangs of death compassed me, and the torrents of ungodliness troubled me exceedingly.

For the end, [A Psalm] of David, for alternate [strains]. Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul.

I am stuck fast in deep mire, and there is no standing: I have come in to the depths of the sea, and a storm has overwhelmed me.

Save me from the mire, that I stick not [in it;] let me be delivered from them that hate me, and from the deep waters.

Hear me, O Lord; for Your mercy is good: according to the multitude of Your compassions, look upon me.

Woe [to] the multitude of many nations, as the swelling sea, so shall you be confounded; and the force of many nations shall sound like water;

many nations like much water, as when much water rushes violently; and they shall drive him away, and pursue him afar, as the dust of chaff when men winnow before the wind, and as a storm whirling the dust of the wheel.

Who is this [that] shall come up as a river, and as rivers roll [their] waves?

The waters of Egypt shall come up like a river. And he said, I will go up, and will cover the earth, and will destroy its inhabitants.

[ 2:4] For You have cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all Your billows and Your waves have passed upon me.

And the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a river after the woman, so that he might cause her to be carried off by the river.

Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth exalt; let the sea be moved, and all its fullness.

The rivers shall clap their hands together; the mountains shall exalt.

For you shall go forth with joy, and shall be taught with gladness; for the mountains and the hills shall exalt to welcome you with joy, and all the trees of the field shall applaud with their branches.

Why did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things?

[saying], Let us break through Their bonds, and cast away Their yoke from us.

He speaks, and the stormy wind arises, and its waves are lifted up.

They go up to the heavens, and go down to the depths; their soul melts because of troubles.

verily they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Yea, our soul would have gone under the overwhelming water.

who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did the nations rage, and the people conspired vain things?

"For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,
