Keep me as the apple of Your eye from those that resist Your right hand; You shall screen me by the covering of Your wings,

For the end. Destroy not; by David, for a memorial, when he fled from the presence of Saul, to the cave. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me; for my soul has trusted in You; and in the shadow of Your wings will I hope, until the iniquity has passed away.

I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever; I will shelter myself under the shadow of Your wings. Pause.

As an eagle would watch over his brood, and yearns over his young, receives them having spread his wings, and takes them up on his back:

The Lord recompense your work; may a full reward be given you of the Lord God of Israel, to whom you have come to trust under His wings.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [you] who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

And I will hew down his foes before him, and put to flight those that hate him.

But My truth and My mercy shall be with him; and in My name shall his horn be exalted.

I will worship toward Your holy temple, and give thanks to Your name, on account of Your mercy and Your truth; for You have magnified Your holy name above all things.

And after these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I [am] your shield. Your reward shall be very great.

And now thus says the Lord God that made you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel, Fear not; for I have redeemed you, I have called you [by] your name; you are Mine.

And if you pass through water, I am with you; and the rivers shall not overflow you; and if you go through the fire, you shall not be burned; the flame shall not burn you.

The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time [itself],

Thus God, wanting to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, guaranteed it by an oath,

in order that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled to take hold of the hope being set before [us];
