Woe is me, [my] mother! You have born me as some man of strife, and at variance with the whole earth. I have not helped [others], nor has anyone helped me; my strength has failed among them that curse me.

You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

You have made us a proverb among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the nations.

And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison house, and let him play before us. And they called Sampson out of the prison house, and he played before them; and they struck him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars.

yet now make an agreement with my lord the king of the Assyrians, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you shall be able to set riders upon them.

And Rabshakeh said to them, Has my lord sent me to your master or to you, to speak these words? [Has he] not [sent] me to the men that sit on the wall, that they may eat dung, and drink [their] water together with you?

Thus says the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you with words; he will not be able to deliver you.

Hearken not to Hezekiah; thus says the king of the Assyrians: If you wish to be blessed, come out to me; and you shall all eat [of] his own vine and his [own] fig trees, and you shall drink water out of your own cisterns;

Let not Hezekiah deceive you, saying, God will deliver you. Have the gods of the nations delivered each one his own land out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians?

Which is the god of all these nations that has delivered his land out of my hand, that God should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

Whom have you reproached and provoked? And against whom have you lifted up your voice? And have you not lifted up your eyes on high against the Holy One of Israel?

For surely Israel was to you a laughing stock, and was found among your thefts, because you fought against him.

Therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord to the mountains, and to the hills, and to the streams, and to the valleys, and to [the places] that have been made desolate and destroyed, and to the cities that have been deserted, and have become a spoil and a trampling to the nations that were left round about;

And those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and make merry, and give gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
