He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poor when he draws him [after him]: he will bring him down in his snare.

He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor.

The sinner watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

But the Lord will not leave him in his hands, nor by any means condemn him when he is judged.

While they pressed hard upon me that sought my soul; and they that sought my hurt spoke vanities, and devised deceits all the day.

They will dwell near and hide [themselves]; they will watch my steps, accordingly as I have waited patiently in my soul.

And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

The words of ungodly men are crafty, but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

For the godly has perished from the earth; and there is none upright among men: they all quarrel even to blood: they grievously afflict everyone his neighbor.

Therefore you [must] not be persuaded by them; for more than four hundred of them are lying in wait for him, who have bound themselves by a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they kill him; and now they are prepared, waiting for the promise from you."

"For truly they were assembled against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,

O Lord my God, if I have done this; (if there is unrighteousness in my hands)

Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; and let him trample my life on the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. Pause.

Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; my enemies that persecute me unrighteously are strengthened. Then I restored that which I took not away.

[ 24:12] And behold, the skirt of your mantle is in my hand, I cut off the skirt, and did not kill you. Know then and see this day, there is no evil in my hand, nor impiety, nor rebellion; and I have not sinned against you, yet you lay snares for my life, to take it.

[ 24:18] And Saul said to David, You are more righteous than I, for you have recompensed me with good, but I have recompensed you with evil.

And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? For in what [manner] have I sinned? And what unrighteousness has been found in me?

But [this was] so that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without cause.'
