And the king said to the footmen that attended on him, Come here and kill the priests of the Lord, because their hand is with David, and because they knew that he fled, and they did not inform me. But the servants of the king would not lift their hands to fall upon the priest of the Lord.

[ 24:11] Behold, your eyes have seen this day how that the Lord has delivered you into my hands in the cave. And I would not kill you, but I spared you, and said, I will not lift up my hand against my master, for he is the Lord's anointed.

And the man said to Joab, Were I even to receive a thousand shekels of silver, I would not lift my hand against the king's son; for in our ears the king charged you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Take care of the young man Absalom for me,

Now at that time Herod the king put [forth] his hands to harm some from the church.

if I have requited with evil those who requited me [with good]; may I then perish empty by means of my enemies.

And they rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

My soul has long been a sojourner;

I was peaceable among them that hated peace; when I spoke to them, they warred against me without a cause.

I will keep My mercy for him forever, and My covenant [shall be] firm with him.

Neither will I by any means profane My covenant; and I will not make void the things that proceed out of My lips.

But You have cast off and set at nought, You have rejected Your anointed.

And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David to reign over the house of Judah; and they reported to David, saying, The men of Jabesh of the country of Gilead have buried Saul.

And all the elders of Israel come to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over all Israel.

And Absalom said to Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, and I will send you to the king, saying, Why did I come out of Geshur? It would have been better for me to have remained there. And now, behold, I have not seen the face of the king; but if there is iniquity in me, then put me to death.

And Joab went in to the king, and brought him word. And he called Absalom, and he went in to the king, and bowed down before him, and fell upon his face to the ground, even in the presence of the king; and the king kissed Absalom.

And Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, When you hear the sound of the trumpet, then shall you say, Absalom has become king in Hebron.

And Absalom sent to Ahithophel the Gilonite, the counselor of David, from his city, from Giloh, where he was sacrificing. And there was a strong conspiracy; and the people with Absalom were increasingly numerous.

Observe the commandment of the king, and [that] because of the word of the oath of God.

[As] I live, says the Lord, verily in [the] place where the king is that made him king, who dishonored My oath, and who broke My covenant, shall he die with him in the midst of Babylon.

Whereas he has profaned the oath so as to break the covenant, when behold, I engage his hand, and he has done all these things to him, he shall not escape.
