What man is there who shall live, and not see death? Shall [anyone] deliver his soul from the hand of Hades? Pause.

Treasures shall not profit the lawless, but righteousness shall deliver from death.

There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; and there is no power in the day of death; and there is no discharge in the day of the battle; neither shall wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

Where are your fathers, and the prophets? Will they live forever?

And it came to pass that the beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.

because You will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

Most assuredly I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall by no means experience death."

Then the Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham and the prophets died, and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word he shall by no means taste death.'

Because You will not abandon my soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

foreseeing [this], he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption."

that God has fulfilled this promise for us to their children, when He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, today I have begotten You.'

"Therefore also in another [Psalm] He says, 'You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.'

but He whom God raised up did not see corruption.
