Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? [Why] do You overlook [us] in times of need, in affliction?

For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He has turned away His face so as never to look.

For the end, A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord, will You forget me? Forever? How long will You turn away Your face from me?

A Psalm of David. Judge me, O God, and plead my cause, against an ungodly nation; deliver me from the unjust and crafty;

Send forth Your light and Your truth; they have led me, and brought me to Your holy mountain, and to Your tabernacle.

and said, I will turn away My face from them, and will show what shall happen to them in the last days; for it is a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faith.

Why do You hide Yourself from me, and regard me [as] Your enemy?

Deliver not to the wild beasts a soul that gives praise to You: forget not forever the souls of Your poor.

Forget not the voice of Your enemies; let the pride of them that hate You continually ascend before You.

And in those days after a length of time, the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaned because of their tasks, and cried, and their cry because of their tasks went up to God.

And God heard their groanings, and God remembered His covenant [that He] made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

For do not say, O Jacob, and why have you spoken, O Israel, [saying], My way is hid from God, and my God has taken away [my] judgment, and has departed?

And now, have you not known? Have you not heard? The eternal God, the God that formed the ends of the earth, shall not hunger, nor be weary, and there is no searching of His understanding.

And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.

And they cried [with] a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?"
