For a thousand years in Your sight are like the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.

Years shall be vanity to them; let the morning pass away as grass.

For all our days are gone, and we have passed away in Your wrath; our years have spun out their tale as a spider.

[As for] the days of our years, in them are seventy years; and if [men should be] in strength, eighty years; and the greater part of them would be labor and trouble; for weakness overtakes us, and we shall be chastened.

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my life, wherein I sojourn, are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, they have not attained to the days of the life of my fathers, in which days they sojourned.

And my life is lighter than a word, and has perished in vain hope.

But my life is swifter than a post: [my days] have fled away, and they knew it not.

Or again, is there a trace of [their] path [left] by ships? Or is there one of the flying eagle as it seeks its prey?

For a mortal born of a woman is short-lived, and full of wrath.

Or he falls like a flower that has bloomed, and he departs like a shadow, and cannot continue.

[you] who do not know [what will] happen tomorrow. For what is your life? For it will be a vapor that appears for a little [time], but then also disappears.

Remember what my being is; for have You created all the sons of men in vain?

But in this let it not escape your notice, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

You chasten man with rebukes for iniquity, and You make his life to consume away like a spider's web; nay, every man is disquieted in vain. Pause.

But the sons of men are vain; the sons of men are false, so as to be deceitful in the balances; they are all alike, [formed] out of vanity.

Man is likened unto vanity: his days pass as a shadow.

Vanity of vanities, said the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

And I looked on all my works which my hands had done, and on my labor which I labored to perform, and behold, all was vanity and grasping for the wind, and there is no advantage under the sun.

and all the nations are as nothing, and counted as nothing.
