[even] them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, fettered in poverty and irons;

God settles the solitary in a house; leading forth prisoners mightily, also them that act provokingly, [even] them that dwell in tombs.

But let darkness and the shadow of death seize it; let blackness come upon it.

before I go to where I shall not return, to a land of darkness and gloominess;

to a land of perpetual darkness, where there is no light, neither [can anyone] see the life of mortals.

Let him not trust that he shall return from darkness, for he has been already made over to the power of the sword.

And he shall by no means escape the darkness: let the wind blast his blossom, and let his flower fall off.

I am fenced round about, and can by no means escape: He has set darkness before my face.

And He has delivered my soul from death, that my life may praise Him in the light.

And the Lord prospered Job. And when he prayed also for his friends, He forgave them [their] sin: and the Lord gave Job twice as much, even double of what he had before.

And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than the beginning: and his livestock consisted of fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys of the pastures.

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, and I will cause them to tread paths which they have not known; I will turn darkness into light for them, and crooked things into straight. These things will I do, and will not forsake them.

saying to them that are in bonds, Go forth; and [bidding] them that are in darkness, show themselves. They shall be fed in all the ways, and in all the paths [shall be] their pasture.

Be enlightened, be enlightened, O Jerusalem, for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you!

And kings shall walk in your light, and nations in your brightness.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light--

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's [own] possession, that you may proclaim the excellent virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

to hear the groaning of the fettered ones, to loosen the sons of the slain;

until the time that his cause came on; the word of the Lord tried him as fire.

The king sent and loosed him; [even] the prince of the people, and let him go free.

O Lord, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, and the son of Your handmaid; You have burst my bonds.

who executes judgment for the wronged: who gives food to the hungry. The Lord looses the fettered ones.

But they that are bound in fetters shall be held in cords of poverty.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me; He has sent Me to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind;

And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year after that Jehoiakim king of Judah had been carried away captive, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fourth [day] of the month, [that] Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year in which he began to reign, raised the head of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and shaved him, and brought him out of the house where he was kept,

and changed his prison garments. And he ate bread continually before him all the days that he lived.

And you, by the blood of your covenant, have sent forth your prisoners out of the waterless pit.

You shall dwell in strongholds, you prisoners of the congregation: and for one day of your captivity I will recompense you double.

But an angel of the Lord during the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, and said,

So one came and reported to them, [saying], "Behold, the men whom you put in jail are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"

And behold, an angel of the Lord stood [there], and a light shined in the prison room; and striking the side of Peter, he roused him saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell away from his hands.

And going out, he was following him, and did not know that the thing taking place by the angel was true, but he was thinking that he was seeing a vision.

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and all the bonds were loosed.

But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying, "Do to yourself nothing bad, for we are all here."

and he brought them forth outside and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all those in his house.

And bringing them up into his house, he set a meal before them; and he rejoiced with his whole house, having believed in God.

And the prison keeper announced these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent so that you may be released. Now therefore depart, and go in peace."

And the officers related to the magistrates these words, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans.

And coming out from the prison, they entered into [the house of] Lydia; and seeing the brothers, they encouraged them and departed.
