Therefore I have counted myself vile, and have fainted: and I esteem myself dust and ashes.

And Abraham answered and said, Now I have begun to speak to my Lord, and I am [but] dust and ashes.

Let there be to me a sufficiency of all the justice and all the truth which You have wrought with Your servant; for with this my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.

And the heart of David convicted him after he had numbered the people; and David said to the Lord, I have sinned grievously, O Lord, [in] what I have now done: remove the iniquity of Your servant, I pray, for I have been exceedingly foolish.

And he himself went a day's journey in the wilderness, and came and sat under a juniper tree; and asked concerning his life that he might die, and said, Let it be enough now, O Lord, take my life from me, I pray, for I am no better than my fathers.

and I said, O Lord, I am ashamed and confounded, O my God, to lift up my face to You; for our transgressions have abounded over our head, and our trespasses have increased even to heaven.

O Lord God of Israel, You [are] righteous, for we are left as a remnant, as it is this day. Behold, we [are] before You in our trespasses, for we cannot stand before You on this account.

For You [are] righteous in all the things that come upon us; and You have dealt faithfully, but we have greatly sinned.

Against You alone have I sinned, and done evil before You; that You might be justified in Your words, and might overcome when You are judged.

For behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

And I said, Woe is me, for I am pricked to the heart; for being a man, and having unclean lips, I dwell in the midst of a people having unclean lips; and I have seen with my eyes the King, the Lord of hosts.

All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has gone astray in his way; and the Lord gave Him up for our sins.

and we have all become as unclean, and all our righteousness is as a filthy rag; and we have fallen as leaves because of our iniquities; thus the wind shall carry us [away].

we have committed iniquity, we have transgressed, and we have departed and turned aside from Your commandments and from Your judgments;

To you, O Lord, [belongs] righteousness, and to us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the earth, wherever You have scattered them, for the sin which they have committed.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"

I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,

and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."'

And the tax collector, standing far away, would not so much as lift his eyes towards heaven, but beat on his chest, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'

Faithful is this word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

You had thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment has abhorred me.

Would that [He] our mediator were [present], and a reprover, and one who should hear [the cause] between both.

So shall I not be afraid, but I will speak: for I am not thus conscious of guilt.

[ 16:22] Oh that a man might plead before the Lord, even as the son of man with his neighbor!

And I would plead my own cause, and He would fill my mouth with arguments.

Though He should come on me in His great strength, then He would not threaten me;

And if I did not read it and return it, having taken nothing from the debtor:

Look upon me and wonder, laying your hand upon your cheek.

And the great men ceased speaking, and laid their finger on their mouth.

And they said to him, Be silent, lay your hand upon your mouth, and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for you to be the priest of the house of one man, or to be the priest of a tribe and house for a family of Israel?

I was dumb, and opened not my mouth; for You are He that made me.

If you abandon yourself to mirth, and stretch forth your hand in a quarrel, you shall be disgraced.

The nations shall see and be ashamed; and at all their might they shall lay their hands upon their mouth, their ears shall be deafened.

But the Lord is in His holy temple: let all the earth fear before Him.

Let all flesh fear before the Lord, for He has risen up from His holy clouds.
