And it came to pass toward evening, that David arose off his couch, and walked on the roof of the king's house, and saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

And David sent messengers, and took her, and went in to her, and he lay with her. And she was purified from her uncleanness, and returned to her house.

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and you have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite, to be your wife.

Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your [own] house, and I will take your wives from before your eyes, and will give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in broad daylight.

Because I kept silence, my bones waxed old, from my crying all the day.

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; I became thoroughly miserable while a thorn was fastened in [me]. Pause.

A Psalm of David for remembrance concerning the Sabbath day. O Lord, rebuke me not in Your wrath, neither chasten me in Your anger.

For there is no health in my flesh because of Your anger; there is no peace to my bones because of my sins.

My wounds have become foul and corrupt, because of my foolishness.

For my soul is filled with mockings; and there is no health in my flesh.

You shall cause me to hear gladness and joy; my afflicted bones shall rejoice.

Turn away Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness.

Be not a winebibber, neither continue long at feasts, and purchases of flesh;

for every drunkard and whoremonger shall be poor, and every sluggard shall clothe himself with tatters and ragged garments.

Who [has] woe? Who has trouble? Who has quarrels? And who complains and disputes? Who has bruises without a cause? Whose eyes are livid?

For if you should set your eyes on bowls and cups, you shall afterwards go more naked than a pestle.

Whenever your eyes shall behold a strange woman, then your mouth shall speak perverse things.

And you shall say, They struck me, and I was not pained; and they mocked me, and I knew it not: when will it be morning, that I may go and seek those with whom I may go in company?

Your apostasy shall correct you, and your wickedness shall reprove you. Know then, and see, that your forsaking Me [has been] bitter to you, says the Lord your God; and I have taken no pleasure in you, says the Lord your God.

If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name, says the Lord Almighty, then I will send forth the curse upon you, and I will bring a curse upon your blessing: yes, I will curse it, and I will scatter your blessing, and it shall not exist among you, because you take this not to heart.

And let him suck the poison of serpents, and let the serpent's tongue slay him.

[They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds, and there shall be irremediable destruction: I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts, with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.
