Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel assembled with fasting, and in sackcloth, and with ashes on their head.

JOD. The elders of the daughter of Zion have sat upon the ground, they have kept silence; they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth; they have brought down to the ground the chief virgins in Jerusalem.

And they shall wail over you with their voice, and cry bitterly, and put earth on their heads, and spread ashes under them.
