For if a man should die, shall he live again, having accomplished the days of his life? I will wait till I exist again.

Is not the life of man upon earth a state of trial? And his existence as that of a hireling by the day?

Seeing that the life of all living things is in His hand, and the breath of every man.

O Lord, make me to know my end, and the number of my days, what it is; that I may know what I lack.

This is the interpretation of the sentence: Mene; God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it.

In the same night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain.

Seventy weeks have been determined upon your people, and upon the holy city, for sin to be ended, to seal up transgressions, to blot out iniquities, to make atonement for iniquities, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

And he shall do according to his will, and the king shall exalt and magnify himself against every god, and shall speak great swelling words, and shall prosper until the indignation shall be accomplished; for it is coming to an end.

But God said to him, ['You] fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have prepared?'

And He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, and He ordained their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,

And just as it is appointed for men once to die, and after this judgment,

For his desire is in his house with him, and the number of his months has been suddenly cut off.

And if He too has thus judged, who is he that has contradicted, for He has both willed a thing and done it.

You have set a boundary which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.

But when You have turned away Your face, they shall be troubled; You will take away their breath, and they shall fail, and return to their dust.

All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and He does according to His will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and there is none who shall withstand His power, and say to Him, What have You done?

I am He who lives, and became dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Death and of Hades.
