For who, being a mortal, [is such] that he shall be blameless? Or [who that is] born of a woman, that he should be just?

For how shall a mortal be just before the Lord? Or who that is born of a woman shall purify himself?

For behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

"Assuredly I say to you, among [those] born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Is not the life of man upon earth a state of trial? And his existence as that of a hireling by the day?

And my life is lighter than a word, and has perished in vain hope.

But my life is swifter than a post: [my days] have fled away, and they knew it not.

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my life, wherein I sojourn, are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, they have not attained to the days of the life of my fathers, in which days they sojourned.

Behold, You have made my days old; and my existence [is] as nothing before You; indeed, every man living [is] altogether vanity. Pause.

yet man is born to labor, and even so the vulture's young seek the high places.

So I hated life, because the work that was done under the sun was evil before me. For all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

For all his days [are] sorrowful, and vexation of spirit is his; in the night also his heart rests not. This is also vanity.
