But the sons of men are vain; the sons of men are false, so as to be deceitful in the balances; they are all alike, [formed] out of vanity.

Trust not in unrighteousness, and lust not after robberies. If wealth should flow in, set not your heart upon it.

But I [was] vile and knew not: I became brutish before You.

A foolish man will not know, and a senseless man will not understand this.

I said in my heart, concerning the speech of the sons of men, God will judge them, and that to show that they are beasts.

Professing to be wise, they became fools,

But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

who takes the wise in their wisdom, and subverts the counsel of the crafty.

So then you [alone] are men, and wisdom shall die with you?

[But] I also have a heart as well as you.

And He said to man, Behold, godliness is wisdom: and to abstain from evil is understanding.

For I am the most simple of all men, and there is not in me the wisdom of men.

Who has gone up to heaven, and come down? Who has gathered the winds in His bosom? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has dominion of all the ends of the earth? What is His name? Or what is the name of His children?

Be of the same mind toward one another. Not minding the high things, but associating with the humble. Do not become wise in your own opinion.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.

and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are useless."

Is there anyone wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct [that] his works [are] in meekness of wisdom.

This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

For who, being a mortal, [is such] that he shall be blameless? Or [who that is] born of a woman, that he should be just?

For behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.

What then? Will the wild donkey bray for nothing, if he is not seeking food? Or again, will the ox low at the manger, when he has [his] fodder?

And who is he that sent forth the wild donkey free? And who loosed his bands?

He laughs to scorn the multitude of the city, and hears not the chiding of the tax-gatherer.

she has extended her ways over the waters of the desert; she was hurried along by the lusts of her soul; she is given up [to them], who will turn her back? None that seek her shall be weary; at [the time of] her humiliation they shall find her.
