But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall, and the joy of transgressors is destruction:

[ 6:13] Will horses run upon rocks? Will they refrain from neighing at mares? For you have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness.

[ 6:14] You who rejoice at vanity, who say, Have we not possessed horns by our own strength?

Woe to you who have been filled, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

Most assuredly I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be grieved, but your grief will be turned into joy.

Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter change into mourning and your joy into dejection.

And everyone in the palace bowed down to him, for so the king had given orders to do; but Mordecai did not bow down to him.

In his sight an evil worker is set at nought, but he honors them that fear the Lord. He swears to his neighbor, and disappoints [him] not.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both the soul and the body in hell.

And when Haman understood that Mordecai did not bow down to him, he was greatly enraged,

And the spirit of Ahab was troubled, and he lay down upon his bed, and covered his face, and ate no bread.

And if my handmaids have often said, Oh that we might be satisfied with his flesh; (whereas I was very kind:

Though an army should set itself in array against me, my heart shall not be afraid; Though war should rise up against me, in this am I confident.

Then Nebuchadnezzar, in wrath and anger, commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And they were brought before the king.

Then Shadrach, Meshach [and] Abed-Nego answered and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, We have no need to answer you concerning this matter.

But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we [will] not serve your gods, neither [will we] worship the image which you have set up.

Then Herod, seeing that he had been deceived by the wise men, was greatly enraged; and he sent and executed all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had ascertained from the wise men.

Now hearing these things they were infuriated in their hearts, and were gnashing their teeth against him.
