Everyone who shall not arrive within three days, as [is] the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his substance shall be forfeited, and he shall be separated from the congregation of the captivity.

And the princes of Judah heard this word, and they went up out of the house of the king to the house of the Lord, and sat in the entrance of the new gate.

Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the false prophets; Judgment of death is not [due] to this man; for he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.

And the children of Israel ate the Passover, [even] they that were of the captivity, and everyone who separated himself to them from the uncleanness of the nations of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel.

And they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with gladness, because the Lord made them glad, and He turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the works of the house of the God of Israel.

And Ezrah the priest arose, and said to them, You have broken covenant, and have taken strange wives, to add to the trespass of Israel.

Now therefore give praise to the Lord God of our fathers, and do that which is pleasing in His sight, and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the strange wives.

And how shall it be surely known, that both I and this people have found favor with You, except only if You go with us? So both I and Your people shall be glorified beyond all the nations, as many as are upon the earth.

For from the top of the mountains I shall see him, and from the hills I shall observe him. Behold, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

And the children of Israel separated themselves from every stranger, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, [even] every alien in Israel.

Depart! Depart, go out from there, and touch not the unclean thing! Go you out from the midst of her; separate yourselves, you that bear the vessels of the Lord.

Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what participation is there for righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion is there for light with darkness?

And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

"I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

You shall not do according to the devices of Egypt, in which you dwelt: and according to the devices of the land of Canaan, into which I bring you, you shall not do; and you shall not walk in their ordinances.

Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for in all these things the nations are defiled, which I drove out before you,

And you shall keep all My statutes and all My ordinances, and you shall do none of these abominations; neither the native, nor the stranger that joins himself with you:

and lest the land be aggrieved with you in your polluting it, as it was aggrieved with the nations before you.

And you shall keep My ordinances, that you may not do any of the abominable practices, which have taken place before your time; and you shall not be polluted in them; for I [am] the Lord your God.

take heed to yourself that you seek not to follow them after they are destroyed before you, saying, How do these nations act towards their gods? I will do likewise.

You shall not do so to your God; for they have sacrificed to their gods the abominations of the Lord which He hates, for they burn their sons and their daughters in fire to their gods.

And when you shall have entered into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord destroyed from before the face of the children of Israel.

but were mingled with the heathen, and learned their works.

Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and boast in God,

and are persuaded that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those in darkness,

You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God through the transgression of the law?

For indeed circumcision profits if you keep the law; but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

And in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the sins of the Amorites are not yet filled up, even until now.

The Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites,

the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

For My angel shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Gergesites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them.

but you shall surely curse them, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite; as the Lord your God commanded you:

that they may not teach you to do all their abominations, which they did to their gods, and [so] you should sin before the Lord your God.

The Ammonite and Moabite shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord, even until the tenth generation he shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord, even forever;

But the Lord your God would not hearken to Balaam; and the Lord your God changed the curses into blessings, because the Lord your God loved you.

And King Solomon was a lover of women. And he took strange women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh, Moabite and Ammonite women, Syrians and Edomites, Hittites and Amorites;

For Solomon went after Ashtoreth, the abomination of the Sidonians.

Then Solomon built a high place to Chemosh the idol of Moab, and to their king the idol of the children of Ammon.

And Tobiah the Ammonite came near to him, and said to them, Do they sacrifice or eat in their place? Shall not a fox go up and pull down their wall of stones?

But it came to pass, when Sanaballat and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, heard that the building of the walls of Jerusalem was advancing, and that the breaches began to be stopped, that it appeared very grievous to them.

In that day they read in the Book of Moses in the ears of the people; and it was found written in it, that the Ammonites and Moabites should not enter into the congregation of God forever;

And it came to pass, when they heard the law, that they were separated, [even] every alien in Israel.

And Israel sojourned in Shittim, and the people profaned themselves by committing harlotry with the daughters of Moab.

And Israel consecrated themselves to Baal of Peor; and the Lord was very angry with Israel.
