And [they numbered] the sons of Aaron in [their] division, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

And Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and they had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron ministered as priests.

And David distributed them, even Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their numbering, according to their service, according to the houses of their fathers.

And there were found [among] the sons of Eleazar more chiefs of the mighty ones, than of the sons of Ithamar. And he divided them, sixteen heads of families to the sons of Eleazar, eight according to [their] families to the sons of Ithamar.

Concerning Rehabiah, the chief [was] Isshiah,

and for Isshiah, Shelomoth; for the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.

[Of] the sons of Hebron, [Jeriah was the chief,] Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

Of the sons of Uzziel, Michah; [of] the sons of Michah, Shamir.

The brother of Michah, Isshiah, the son of Issiah, Zechariah.

The sons of Merari [were] Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Ozia,

[That is, the sons] of Merari by Ozia, his sons [were] Beno, Zaccur, and Ibri.

To Mahli [were born] Eleazar, and Ithamar; and Eleazar died, and had no sons.

Of Kish: the son of Kish, Jerahmeel.

And the sons of Mushi [were] Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These [were] the sons of the Levites according to the houses of their families.
31
And they also received lots as their brethren the sons of Aaron before the king; Zadok also, and Ahimelech, and the chiefs of the families of the priests and of the Levites, principal heads of families, even as their younger brethren.
