but only [troubled him] in his affliction. And he departed yet again from the Lord, and King Ahaz said,

And those who are left of you shall perish, because of their sins, and because of the sins of their fathers: in the land of their enemies shall they consume away.

and I walked with them with a perverse mind; and I will destroy them in the land of their enemies: then shall their uncircumcised heart be ashamed, and then shall they acquiesce in [the punishment of] their sins.

And all these things shall come upon you in the last days, and you shall turn to the Lord your God, and shall hearken to His voice.

Because the Lord your God [is] a merciful God; He will not forsake you, nor destroy you; He will not forget the covenant of your fathers, which the Lord swore to them.

I have heard the sound of Ephraim lamenting, [and saying], You have chastened me, and I was chastened; I as a calf was not [willingly] taught: turn me, and I shall turn; for You [are] the Lord my God.

Ephraim is a beloved son, a pleasing child to Me: for because My words are in him, I will surely remember him. Therefore I made haste [to help] him. I will surely have mercy upon him, says the Lord.

I will go and return to My place, until they are brought to nought, and [then] shall they seek My face.

The Lord's voice shall be proclaimed in the city, and He shall save those that fear His name: hear, O tribe; and who shall order the city?

And he was longing to fill his stomach with the carob pods which the swine were eating, and no one gave him anything.

I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,

And the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of the God of Israel,

behold, [they are] in the account of his prayer. And [God] hearkened to him. And all his sins, and his backslidings, and the spots on which he built the high places, and set there groves and graven images, before he repented, behold, they are written in the books of the seers.

And call upon Me in the day of affliction; and I shall deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Pause.

And the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street called Straight, and seek out in the house of Judas, a man named Saul, of Tarsus; for behold, he is praying.

And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And [the king] attacked him, and took a great multitude of prisoners captive, and carried him to Damascus. Also [God] delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

And he was not humbled before the Lord as his father Manasseh was humbled; for his son Amon abounded in transgression.

And Hezekiah humbled himself after the exaltation of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharaoh, and they said to him, Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: How long do you refuse to reverence Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

I say to you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

And they were bringing infants to Him, that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Likewise, younger [people], subject yourselves to [the] elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
