The sons of Shimei [were] Shelomith, Haziel, and Haran, three [in all]: these [were] the chiefs of the families of Laadan.

And to the sons of Shimei [were] Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah: these [were] the four sons of Shimei.

And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not multiply sons, and they became [only] one reckoning according to the house of their father.

The sons of Kohath [were] Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel- four [in all].
13
The sons of Amram [were] Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was appointed for the consecration of the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister and bless in His name forever.

And [as for] Moses the man of God, his sons were reckoned to the tribe of Levi.
15
The sons of Moses [were] Gershon, and Eliezer.
16
Of the sons of Gershon, Shebuel [was] the chief.
17
And the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very greatly multiplied.
18
[Of] the sons of Izhar, Shelomith [was] the chief.
19
[Of] the sons of Hebron, Jeriah [was] the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20
[Of] the sons of Uzziel, Michah [was] the chief, and Jesshiah the second.

The sons of Merari [were] Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli [were] Eleazar, and Kish.
22
And Eleazar died, and he had no sons, but daughters. And the sons of Kish, their brethren, took them [as wives].
23
The sons of Mushi [were] Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth- three [in all].
24
These [are] the sons of Levi according to the houses of their fathers; chiefs of their families according to their numbering, according to the number of their names, according to their polls, doing the works of service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward.
25
For David said, The Lord God of Israel has given rest to His people, and has taken up His abode in Jerusalem forever.

And the Levites bore not the tabernacle, or any of the vessels for its service.
