And all the children of Israel saw the fire descending, and the glory of the Lord was upon the house; and they fell upon their face to the ground on the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord; for [it is] good [to do so], because His mercy [endures] forever.

And he took counsel with the people, and set appointed men to sing psalms and praises, to give thanks, and sing the holy songs of praise in going forth before the army. And they said, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy [endures] forever.

And Jehoiada the priest committed the works of the house of the Lord into the hand of the priests and Levites, and he re-established the courses of the priests and Levites which David appointed over the house of the Lord, and [he appointed them] to offer whole burnt offerings to the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with gladness, and with songs by the hand of David.

Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord: for He is good: for His mercy [endures] forever.

For there they that had taken us captive asked of us the words of a song; and they that had carried us away [asked] a hymn, [saying], Sing us [one] of the songs of Zion.

How should we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?
