And Hezekiah humbled himself after the exaltation of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

And when he was afflicted, he sought the face of the Lord his God, and was greatly humbled before the face of the God of his fathers;

behold, [they are] in the account of his prayer. And [God] hearkened to him. And all his sins, and his backslidings, and the spots on which he built the high places, and set there groves and graven images, before he repented, behold, they are written in the books of the seers.

And he was not humbled before the Lord as his father Manasseh was humbled; for his son Amon abounded in transgression.

And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharaoh, and they said to him, Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: How long do you refuse to reverence Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

And they shall confess their sins, and the sins of their fathers, that they have transgressed and neglected Me, and that they have walked perversely before Me,

and I walked with them with a perverse mind; and I will destroy them in the land of their enemies: then shall their uncircumcised heart be ashamed, and then shall they acquiesce in [the punishment of] their sins.

If there should be famine, if there should be death, because there should be blasting, locust, or if there be mildew, and if their enemy oppress them in one of their cities, [with regard to] every calamity, every trouble,

then shall You hearken from heaven, out of Your established dwelling place, and shall be merciful, and shall do, and recompense to [every] man according to his ways, as You shall know his heart, for You alone know the heart of all the children of men;

When He slew them, they sought Him; and they returned and sought diligently after God.

And they remembered that God was their Helper, and the Most High God was their Redeemer.

Hear, and give ear, and be not proud; for the Lord has spoken.

Say to the king and the princes, Humble yourselves, and sit down; for your crown of glory is removed from your head.

And have not ceased even to this day, and they have not kept to My ordinances, which I set before their fathers.

And you accordingly, his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart before God: do you not know all this?

I will go and return to My place, until they are brought to nought, and [then] shall they seek My face.

I say to you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time: the Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

And Adoni-Bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I therefore have done, so God has recompensed me: and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

Even then a man shall blame himself, saying, What kind of things have I done? And He has not punished me according to the full amount of my sins.

The righteous Lord has cut in pieces the necks of sinners.

TSADE. The Lord is righteous, for I have provoked His mouth. Hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my grief: my virgins and my young men have gone into captivity.

The Lord also has watched, and brought these evils upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all His work which He has executed, but we have not heeded His voice.

For they, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
