So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, (that is, Bethlehem.)

So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.'"

And he struck them, leg on thigh, [with] a great overthrow; and went down and dwelt in a cave of the rock of Etam.

And their villages [were] Etam, Ain, Rimmon Tochen, and Ashan- five cities.

And they rose early in the morning and went out to the Wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and cried, and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; put your trust in the Lord God, and your trust shall be honored; trust in His prophet, and you shall prosper.

And Joab sent to Tekoa, and took from there a cunning woman, and said to her, Mourn, and put on mourning apparel, and anoint yourself not with oil, and you shall be as a woman mourning for one that is dead thus for many days.

And next to them the Tekoites took [their] place; but the Adorim did not put their shoulders to their service.

And after them the Tekoites repaired, another portion opposite the great projecting tower, even as far as the wall of Ophel.

Strengthen yourselves, you children of Benjamin, [to flee] out of the midst of Jerusalem, and sound an alarm with the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a signal over Beth Haccerem; for evil threatens from the north, and a great destruction is coming.

The words of Amos, which came [to him] in Accarim out of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
