And there was a transgressor there, and his name was Sheba, a Benjamite, the son of Bichri: and he blew the trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we [any] inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel!

And all Israel saw that the king did not hearken to them. And the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? Neither have we any inheritance in the son of Jesse. Depart, O Israel, to your tents; now feed your own house, David.

So Israel departed to his tents.

And it came to pass on the next day, on the second day of the month, that David's place was empty; and Saul said to Jonathan his son, Why has not the son of Jesse attended both yesterday and today at the table?

And Saul was exceedingly angry with Jonathan, and said to him, You son of a traitorous woman! For do I not know that you are an accomplice with the son of Jesse to yourself, and to the shame of your mother's nakedness?

For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the earth, your kingdom shall not be established: now then send and take the young man, for he shall surely die!

And Saul said to his servants that stood by him, Hear now, you sons of Benjamin, will the son of Jesse indeed give all of you fields and vineyards, and will he make you all captains of hundreds and captains of thousands?

And Doeg the Syrian who was over the mules of Saul answered and said, I saw the son of Jesse as he came to Nob, to Abimelech son of Ahitub the priest.

And Saul said to him, Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me, that you should give him bread and a sword, and should inquire of God for him, to raise him up against me as an enemy, as he is this day?

But My mercy I will not take from him, as I took it from those whom I removed from My presence.

And his house shall be made sure, and his kingdom forever before Me, and his throne shall be established forever.

Only I will not take away the whole kingdom; I will give one tribe to your son for David My servant's sake, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen.

However, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, (for I will certainly resist him all the days of his life,) for the sake of My servant David, whom I have chosen.

But to his son I will give the two [remaining] tribes, that My servant David may have an establishment continually before Me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for Myself, to put My name there.

And it shall come to pass, if you will keep all the commandments that I shall give you, and will walk in My ways, and do that which is right before Me, to keep My ordinances and My commandments, as David My servant did, that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built to David.

And I will establish him in My house and in his kingdom forever; and his throne shall be set up forever.

Why did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things?

[saying], Let us break through Their bonds, and cast away Their yoke from us.

Then shall He speak to them in His anger, and trouble them in His fury.

For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to You, and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to You.

And I will establish his seed forever and ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

if they should profane My ordinances, and not keep My commandments;

But My mercy I will not utterly remove from him, nor wrong My truth.

Once have I sworn by My holiness, that I will not lie to David.

and as the moon [that is] established forever, and as the faithful witness in heaven. Pause.

There will I cause to spring up a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for My Anointed.

For a Child is born to us, and a Son is given to us, whose government is upon His shoulder; and His name is called the Messenger of great counsel; for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to Him.

His government shall be great, and of His peace there is no end; [it shall be] upon the throne of David, and [upon] His kingdom, to establish it, and to support [it] with judgment and with righteousness, from this time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall perform this.

And there shall come forth a Rod out of the root of Jesse, and a blossom shall come up from [his] root;

And My servant David [shall be] a prince in the midst of them. There shall be one shepherd of [them] all; for they shall walk in My ordinances, and keep My judgments, and do them.

And they shall dwell in their land, which I have given to My servant Jacob, where their fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell upon it; and David My servant [shall be their] prince forever.

In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and will rebuild the ruins of it, and will set up the parts thereof that have been broken down, and will build it up as in the ancient days:

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of His father David.

And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end."

But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.'

Nevertheless bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay [them] before me.'"

"Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to seat [Him] on his throne,

For He must reign till He puts all His enemies under His feet.

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and the Stock of David, the Bright and Morning Star."

So Israel rebelled against the house of David until this day.

And they did not deal mercifully with the house of Jerubbaal, (that is, Gideon) according to all the good which he did to Israel.

And there came a messenger to David, saying, the heart of the men of Israel has gone after Absalom.

And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came forth out of my bowels seeks my life; still more now may the son of Benjamin: let him curse, because the Lord has told him.

From this [time] many of His disciples turned back and no longer would walk with Him.

And everyone went to his own house.
