For My counsels are not as your counsels, nor are My ways as your ways, says the Lord.

But as the heaven is distant from the earth, so is My way distant from your ways, and your thoughts from My mind.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and untraceable [are] His ways!

"For who has known [the] mind of the LORD? Or who has been His counselor?"

And David said to Solomon, [My] child, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of the Lord God.

But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, You have shed blood abundantly, and have carried on great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed much blood upon the earth before Me.

And David stood in the midst of the assembly, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people. It was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and a place for the feet of our Lord, and I prepared [materials] suitable for the building;

but God said, You shall not build Me a house to call My name upon it, for you are a man of war, and have shed blood.

And it came to pass in that night, that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,

Go, and say to My servant David, Thus says the Lord, You shall not build Me a house to dwell in.

Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son that has proceeded out of your bowels, he shall build the house for My name.

But the Lord said to my father David, Whereas it came into your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it came into your heart.

Nevertheless you shall not build the house; for your son who shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house for My name.
