And David went up there to Hebron, [he] and both his wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite,

And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David to reign over the house of Judah; and they reported to David, saying, The men of Jabesh of the country of Gilead have buried Saul.

And there was war for a long time between the house of Saul and the house of David; and the house of David grew continually stronger; but the house of Saul grew continually weaker.

But let the faithful hold on his own way, and let him that is pure of hands take courage.
