So David arose, and the six hundred men that were with him, and he went to Achish, son of Maoch, king of Gath.

And he gave him Ziklag in that day. Therefore Ziklag has belonged the king of Judea to this day.

And it came to pass after Saul was dead, that David returned from smiting Amelek, and David abode two days in Ziklag.

he that reported to me that Saul was dead, even he was as one bringing glad tidings before me. But I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, to whom I ought, [as he thought], to have given a reward or his tidings.

And Ner begot Kish, and Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.

And Ner begot Kish, and Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.

And these [are] the chiefs of the mighty men, whom David had, who strengthened [themselves] with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

God forbid that I should do this thing- shall I drink the blood of these men with their lives? For with [the peril of] their lives they brought it. So he would not drink it. These things were done by the three mighty [men].

These things did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and his name [was] among the three mighties.

He was distinguished beyond the thirty, yet he reached not to the [first] three. And David set him over his family.
