And the mixed multitude among them lusted exceedingly; and they and the children of Israel sat down and wept and said, Who shall give us meat to eat?

We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt; and the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the garlic, and the onions.

And David longed, and said, Who will give me water to drink out of the well that is in Bethlehem by the gate? Now the band of the Philistines [was] then in Bethlehem.

And the three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well that was in Bethlehem in the gate; and they took it, and brought it to David, and he would not drink it, but poured it out before the Lord.

I spread forth my hands to You; my soul [thirsts] for You, as a dry land. Pause.

For the end, [A Psalm] of instruction, for the sons of Korah. As the deer earnestly desires the fountains of water, so my soul earnestly longs for You, O God.

My soul has thirsted for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Edom. O God, my God, I cry to You early; my soul has thirsted for You: how often has my flesh [longed] after You, in a barren and trackless and dry land!

Therefore draw water with joy out of the wells of salvation.

Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given to you living water."

but whoever drinks of the water which I shall give him will by no means ever thirst again. But the water which I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life."
