And Elisha said, [As] the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, unless I regarded the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not have looked on you, nor seen you.

And Elijah the prophet, the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be these years dew nor rain, except by the word of my mouth.

And Elijah said, [As] the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, today I will appear before him.

And Gehazi the servant of Elisha said, Behold, my Lord has spared this Syrian Naaman, so as not to take of his hand what he has brought; as the Lord lives, I will surely run after him, and take something from him.

From where [have you come], Gehazi? And Gehazi said, Your servant has not been anywhere. And Elisha said to him, Did not my heart go with you, when the man returned from his chariot to meet you? And now you have received silver, and now you have received clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, menservants, and maidservants.

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I will stretch out my hand to the Lord, the Most High God, who made the heaven and the earth,

that I will not take from all your goods, from a string to a sandal strap, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich.

And the man of God said to the king, If you should give me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither will I eat bread, neither will I drink water in this place; for thus the Lord charged me by [His] word, saying,

And Daniel said before the king, Let your gifts be to yourself, and give the presents of your house to another; but I will read the writing, and will make known to you its interpretation.

"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Now when Simon observed that by the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought to acquire the gift of God through money!

I have desired the silver or gold or clothes of no one.

By all things I have shown you, that thus laboring it is necessary to help [those] being weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

Be without offense, both toward Jews and toward Greeks, and toward the church of God,

just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be saved.

and when I was present with you, and in need, I did not burden anyone; for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need. And in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and so I will keep myself.

As the truth of Christ is in me, that this boasting will not be silenced in me in the regions of Achaia.

Now for the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not burden you. For I do not seek what is yours, but you. For the children ought not to store up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
